The Challenge
The retailer was essentially beginning from scratch, looking for an entirely new infrastructure design that could be implemented throughout every store. A company of this size requires constant connection with its customers to retain sales opportunities and cultivate ongoing growth, so it needed a partner who could:
- Build networking and cabling functionality: The company required a complete overhaul of store infrastructure, including cabling and equipment layout.
- Provide solutions that can be managed on a macro scale: Networking issues and processes needed to be standardized across all 85 locations.

The Action
The TailWind team was invited to visit a number of stores and evaluate the current networking situation before determining that an entire ground-up rebuild of each store's infrastructure was necessary to achieve a strong, consistent network. Over the year-long engagement, TailWind designed a new infrastructure management system customized to fit every store, including equipment cabinets, cabling, labeling, and structural standards.
TailWind also developed an internal standard for management and configuration that the retailer could apply consistently across all 85 locations, then installed the new network infrastructure at each site. To ensure successful implementation and ongoing management, TailWind provided a dedicated project manager who trained store employees and supervisors on proper infrastructure management and troubleshooting.
