Sourcing Specialist

Position Summary

The Sourcing Specialist will negotiate price and terms for service, materials, equipment, and/or supplies from vendors and should have prior experience working in Telecom Industry. This position requires extensive knowledge and experience in hardware, professional services and contracts. The Sourcing Manager must be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with frequent tight deadlines and working collaboratively with both internal teammates, clients and external suppliers.

The candidate must also have industry experience with Telecom, Fiber Optics or Network products.

Essential Functions

  • Understands and documents business requirements to meet customer needs and company deliverables
  • Identifies and vets potential vendors
  • Establishes and executes category strategy relative to third party vendors with the purpose of rationalizing costs and obtaining the maximum value.
  • Develop a footprint strategy for all vendors.
  • Manages ~15-20 sourcing projects in parallel with high complexity level ensuring timely execution based upon project timelines
  • Works with both pre-established & new vendors documenting performance with KPIs and Scorecards; spending variances, and trend analysis.
  •  Partners with In House counsel on contract terms & conditions including SLAs & pricing
  • Strategically sources (RFI/RFP)
  • Implement and maintain pricing strategy.
  • Formalizes agreements according to company policy
  • Monitors vendor compliance with contract terms and product or service specifications
  • Identifies and realizes opportunities for cost reduction
  • Participates in internal control processes, SOPs and is responsible for all vendor compliance
  • Act as procurement subject matter expert in consulting with the internal teams to identify, develop and deploy best practice procurement, category management and supplier management
  • Develop strong partnerships with procurement operations, accounts payable, and legal teams
  • Manage, coordinate and support special projects as needed

Required Education and Experience

  • 5+ years of experience in procurement, sourcing or contracting in the technology professional services; strong IT acumen
  • Experience in drafting outsourced services contracts
  • Experience prioritizing and managing workload
  • Experience working with tools including Word, Excel, ERP systems, and contract management tools
  • Collaborative team player

Preferred Education and Experience

  • Bachelors’ degree in Business, Supply Chain, Procurement, Finance or IT Management
  • Knowledge and experience with Infrastructure, Hardware and Software, Network and Telecom equipment
  • Experience analyzing data and making recommendations on sourcing opportunities
  • Global experience.

Supervisory Responsibility

This role does not currently have supervisory responsibility.

Work Environment

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

Physical Demands

This is largely a sedentary role; however, some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand as necessary.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. 40+ hours per week are expected. Days and hours of work are generally Monday through Friday during normal business hours, with additional hours for on-call shifts and as workload and business demands.

Travel

Travel is minimal, and primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-the-area and overnight travel may be expected.
